I am a developer and traveler from Poland. For more than a decade I have explored the world independently — no package holidays, no travel agencies, no group tours with a flag-waving guide. I started with weekend trips around Europe; today I plan multi-week journeys across Asia, the Balkans and the less obvious corners of Poland.

Kompas Podróży was born when I realized I was spending more time in spreadsheets planning trips with friends than actually travelling. Each of us used a different app — one Wanderlog, one Splitwise, one Notion. There was no single Polish-first tool combining a daily itinerary, a PLN budget and group cost-splitting.

Kompas is a one-person project I run after my day job. As the sole creator of every feature in the app, I build what I need for my own trips or what early Polish users asked for.

How I build recommendations and plans

Every public template in the ready-made plans catalog catalog is based on either my own travels or verified sources (official tourism organizations, budget data from readers).
Prices are updated regularly and currency conversions are handled automatically by our API — it fetches the current NBP average exchange rate for the given day, no manual rounding.
I do not partner with travel agencies or tour operators. Affiliate links (e.g. to hotels) are always disclosed, and recommendations stay independent of commission.
Tech stack: Angular 21 + Supabase + Vercel Edge. Everything runs inside the EU and is GDPR-compliant.

To keep the content factually correct and up to date, I regularly use the following official sources:

Polska Organizacja Turystyczna — official data on attractions, regions and the events calendar in Poland.
NBP — Kursy walut — average daily exchange rates published by the National Bank of Poland.
Polish MFA — Travel information — warnings, visa requirements and safety briefings for Polish citizens.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kompas Podróży work on iPhone and Android?

Yes — it is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Install it from Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android and it appears on your home screen like any other app. No App Store or Google Play download required. Offline trip data remains accessible without an internet connection and syncs automatically when you reconnect.

Do I need to pay to plan trips?

No. The Free plan is completely free and requires no credit card or trial period. It covers full trip planning, shared budget, checklists, notes and offline mode. The Plus plan unlocks AI features and audio guides. You can also upgrade a single trip with a one-time payment instead of subscribing — see the pricing page for details.

Is my travel data safe and private?

Yes. Data is stored in a Supabase database on AWS servers in the EU (Frankfurt region). Each trip is visible only to invited participants — enforced by Row Level Security policies at the database level. The app is GDPR-compliant and does not sell or share personal data with third parties.
