Getting Started
How do I create a new trip?
You have two options. To use a ready-made plan, go to the Templates page, click "Plan Trip" on any template, choose your variant (Chill, Standard, or Intense), set your dates, add participants, and click "Create Trip". Alternatively, use Quick Journey to create a blank trip in seconds — perfect if you already have your own itinerary and just need to track expenses, checklists, and notes.
What is a Quick Journey and when should I use it?
A Quick Journey is a blank trip you can create instantly — no template or itinerary needed. It gives you access to the full budget tracker, packing checklist, and notes right away. It's ideal for solo travelers, spontaneous trips, or anyone who already has a plan and just wants a lightweight tool to stay organized on the road. Free accounts can have up to 3 active standalone journeys.
How do I invite friends to my trip?
Open your trip, go to Settings, and find the "Invite participants" section. Copy the invite link and share it via WhatsApp, email, or any messenger. When your friend opens the link and signs up, they'll automatically be added to the trip.
Budget & Expenses
How do I add an expense?
Open your trip and go to the Budget tab. Click "Add Expense", fill in the details (amount, currency, category, who paid), choose how to split it (equal, individual, or for someone), and save. Currencies are automatically converted to your home currency.
What split modes are available and when should I use them?
Use Equal when everyone should pay the same share. Use Custom when each person consumed a different amount. Use No split when one person pays only for themselves. Use Each paid own when everyone paid separately and you want the app to save separate entries without creating debts between participants.
How does AI receipt scanning work step by step?
In Add Expense, tap Scan receipt and upload a photo. The app extracts merchant name, category, currency, amount, and (when available) line items. You can review and edit all fields before saving. The app also shows remaining daily scans and blocks scanning after the limit is reached for your current plan.
Can I split a scanned receipt by individual items?
Yes. If AI detects multiple receipt items and your trip has multiple participants, the form automatically switches to itemized assignment mode. You can assign each item to one or more people, and the app recalculates per-person amounts from those assignments. You can switch back to simple split mode at any time.
Why can balances differ from the current exchange rate?
When you enter an expense in a foreign currency, the app converts it to your home currency at save time and stores that value for settlements. The live preview uses current rates, but your final balance is based on rates from when expenses were added, so exchange-rate differences can appear later.
How do settlement links work?
When someone owes you money, click "Share settlement link" next to their debt. This generates a unique link you can send them. They can see the exact amount owed without needing an account. After they pay (bank transfer, cash, etc.), record the repayment in the app to update the balance.
Can I scan receipts to add expenses?
Yes! Users with an active Plus plan can use the AI receipt scanner. When adding an expense, click the camera icon to take a photo of a receipt. The AI will automatically extract the merchant name, amount, currency, and category.
Members & Sharing
What is a "guest" member?
A guest is someone added to a trip who doesn't have an account yet. You can still split expenses with them. When they later sign up and join via the invite link, the app automatically links their account to the existing data (Magic Merge) — no manual work needed.
What are the member roles?
Currently there are two active roles: Owner and Viewer. Owners have full control — they can edit trip settings, manage members, and delete the trip. Viewers can browse the itinerary, add and edit expenses, and update the checklist, but cannot delete the trip or manage members.
Offline & Technical
Does the app work offline?
Yes! As a PWA, the app caches your trip data for offline use. You can view your timeline, checklist, budget, and notes without internet. Some actions (adding expenses, editing notes) require an internet connection and will be available once you're back online.
How is my data handled?
Your trip data is stored securely in Supabase with row-level security policies — only trip members can access trip data. AI features (receipt scanning, audio guides) process data through European servers (GDPR-compliant). We don't sell or share your personal data.
Security
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in page, click "Forgot password?". Enter your email address and we'll send you a password reset link. Check your spam folder if you don't receive it within a few minutes.
